That during upgrades Sage would automatically flag new role options and allow us to apply them to all users or tell Sage to leave them unchecked.
A good example is the User Settings. I do realize exceptions exist but why not allow us to globally assign this setting to all roles as part of the setup the first time the option is added to Sage. Also, give these users rights to modify the theme ( which for some reason is a separate option on a separate menu tab). It's fairly innocent and you spend time showing people how to change between menus and suddenly realize you have to modify 1/2 dozen ( or more ) security roles for everyone to be able to do so.
As a fallback, I would be placated by the ability to globally give ( or take away ) every role a certain right. Perhaps the place to do this is within the Search functionality of Role Maintenance. If the user has rights, they might be able to tag certain results and say "apply to all" or "remove from all".
Same thing/concept with user grids - I don't think there's an easy way for a company with 30 "heads down" users to globally set everyone's grid to the same layout. Perhaps it's technically possible with a few DFDM tricks but this should be allowable so that you don't have to meet with 30 people and demo have they need to go sit down at their PC to make changes.
And while I'm wishing ( ranting ) - make the Sage workstation install as unattended as possible.
For most users I need:
- Install pre-requisites in advance so I don't have to find them out the day of go-live - there should be a separate "Install Pre-requisites"
- Couldn't this routine also test for proper rights everywhere as well? Sage itself sure does when it starts up but instead of a helpful UI it throws cryptic errors
- Uninstall old Sage
- Uninstall old Crystal ( optional )
- Install Sage workstation
- Install Sage Exchange ( or whatever they call it this year )
- Install Crystal( optional )
- Install Tax ( Aatrix ) ( optional )
Why in 2019 are we sitting in front of a PC going click, click, click, click and burning time ( and possibly forgetting steps )?
