Re: Need for all subscription versions of Sage to be on TLS 1.2 prior to the Sage License Server shutting off TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in October 2023

At MOTM 2023, Sage discussed that they expected to release patches for older versions of Sage 100 that might not be easily upgradeable. These patches bring specific Sage 100 versions into compliance with TLS 1.2, which is required for the SLS ( Sage License Server) starting October 2023.

I don't think Sage intends to publicize the availability of these patches. Instead, they are meant for internal partner use when a customer cannot upgrade their system due to circumstances beyond their control. Therefore, unless we see Sage discuss this publicly ( Sage City, etc) I suggest not to post, publicize or share this information publicly.

I believe these are all "login required," so sharing a link (as below) requires first logging into the Sage 100 KB before you will see the KB related to each version as linked below.

It's possible that the Sage KB may undergo some changes within the next month, and the links below might change ( I grabbed copies of all the files and stored them in my Google Drive just in case the patches somehow disappear )

    Versions with patches available

    Sage 100 2015.5 - LM5200T (for customers with a payroll subscription )
    Sage 100 2016.2 to 2016.5 - LM5034T
    Sage 100 2017.0 to 2017.6 - LM5035T
    Sage 100 2018.0 to 2018.10 - LM6030T
    Sage 100 2019.0 to 2019.5 - LM6126T

There are multiple steps to install the patch - most of which require verifying prerequisites are installed. Sage includes a PDF with each download that contains the instruction steps ( here is a link to the 2019.0 to 2019,.5 PDF as an example )

Thanks @Wayne Schulz   Much appreciated.  It provides some comfort knowing if we run out of time getting all of the upgrades done there is a lifeline.

If these fixes are meant for internal partner use when a customer cannot upgrade their system due to circumstances beyond their control, any suggestions for approaching customers about upgrading?  "You are required to upgrade or your system will become read-only" is now not a true statement.

@Doug Higgs In my view, I would offer it to my paying customers ( on a support agreement with me ). Although I would also spend a good amount of time writing why I think it unwise that they stay on an older, unsupported Sage version.

I probably would adjust my annual agreement by a material amount to support such groups since, in essence, they would be using me to avoid upgrading.

What's the downside to raising the fee other than they'll find someone else who they probably will pay hourly (quick questions free) to support something that is never going to be upgraded, never going to be enhanced? In most cases, these types of users are frequently trying to sell their business which in 90% of my experience, means Sage is out.

If a customer (who is mainly just dragging their feet for no good reason) asks me directly I plan to say something like "there are behind the scenes rumors that Sage might patch older versions but details of that have not been released to the public"... i.e. dance around the truth, still encouraging the upgrade with hints at uncertainty for older patches.

Sorry did not notice that I have a typo in the title of the post - s/b " Sage Releases TLS 1.2 Patches for v2015 to 2019"

TIL that Sage didn't lose their password to post into the Sage Partner-only area of Sage City.
