Has anyone converted a client from Work Order to Sage Production. I have discovered a major issue in that if you used operations per hour in the routing maintenance in Work Order, that during conversion Sage Production will do the following:
The software will take 1 hour and divide the hour by the number of operations from work order and enter the answer in budgeted hours for that activity. The answer is rounded to 2 decimals even though in Sage we have it set to 4 decimals (Common Information).  The problem is that when you have many operations per hour and you calculate the number of hours to make something, the answer is way off. In one case for my client it was off by 70 hours.  I have a fix for this but am curious if anyone has had this issue o how many customers have converted from work order to Production. My client had to go as they want to use Bar code for Manufacturing.

You mean Production Management?  There are a many issues with this product and I'm not recommending clients move to it unless absolutely necessary.

I agree. I have not recommended it but this client had to go to speed up production by using bar code processing.  The 2019 version has a minimum of 20 hotfixes that needs to be installed if not more. I am just curious how many have migrated and if they are aware of the routing/template conversion issue.

    Thanks

I'm really anxious to see the answers to how many resellers have converted their clients, and how many are waiting for things to be fixed with Production Management before they convert their clients off of WO.  We haven't done any conversions because we keep reading about all of the issues – which is what really is preventing us from converting clients!  The WO clients are getting restless though – they really want to see all of those improvements Sage has told them are in Production Management.

We have at least two 2019 upgrades that stayed with work order with the intent of moving to PM as a second phase.  Neither have pulled the trigger and with the comments I am reading here I am reluctant to push things along.  One of the companies have processes with lots of operations per hour and the rounding issue mentioned by @Avron Katz will likely affect them.  Of course we wouldn't go live without the requirements of creating a whole separate instance of Sage in a test environment.  Not feeling great about no work being performed to PM to make it compliant with 2019.3.  These clients both have 1099 NEC vendors.  Neither of these clients plan to upgrade again within one year to 2020 due to ISV enhancements.  2021 will be the earliest.

    Have not migrate.

Another issue that has been reported which impacts my customer is the inability to auto assign ranges of serial numbers for serialized inventory. This is something prior WO did.

We have a WO customer that went Live with PM (including ScanForce) last month, with a number of issues but I am not technical lead so I don't know the details.

Doubt if history will ever be converted, so if you are waiting for that, it is time to deliver on plan B.  Treat it as a Sage 50 migration and you are leaving history behind.  In six months, it will never be looked at.

If everyone is afraid to dip their toe in the water, then the bug issues will never be found and cured.

Per a note I received from Scanco after I asked about the delay in releasing enhancements for v2020, they are working very hard on Production Mgmt and Operations Mgmt.  The roadmap they shared at the last road ahead meeting will be delivered for all items on time.

I get the impression that Scanco is overwhelmed with the two mgmt conversions.  Reminds me of the v4.1 days.....

Customer's should not be unwilling guinea pigs to 'bug" test a product.

Scanco has been an affiliate member of 90 Minds for years.  If they needed beta testing environments they could have posted a message in the 90 Minds Community and all willing beta testers could apply.
