I have a client that only wants certain companies restored on the new server inside of Sage for testing a new third party software.

Is premium version like the advanced version where I only need to restore the SQL databases they want to see inside of Sage and select the same options when I do the parallel migration?

Running another instance of the premium version on the same network on a separate server, has anyone experience any issues?

It should let you do that.  However, a thorough test would include making sure that the new software doesn't have any bad side effects on the other companies as well.

Parallel migration, select only the company codes you want to copy.  (Live server has to be offline while you do the migration).
There are also threads on 90Minds for an alternative method that doesn't require migration, if doing the copy after hours is inconvenient.
Either way, on the same network, be sure to change things like Paperless paths so testing won't affect the Live PDF files... disable Paperless email, credit cards... to similarly protect Live stuff from testing.

@Kevin Moyes I'm glad you mentioned about the parallel migration because I did not know the live server had to be offline. I'm going to go in the direction of the alternative method since the client doesn't want this touching the production server. Thank you for the tips! I'm sure I will have more questions.

I'm getting this error 65 when I open customer maintenance. I used the merge method for this test enviroment on the new server. After step 11 where is says to copy and paste the MAS_System and MAS_XXX companies into the new MAS90 install. Should I do the same thing in SQL databases?  Delete the MAS_SYSTEM and company databases out of SQL and restore it from the backup off the old server?
