Sage PR tax calculation - whacked out Federal Withholding

  • 1.  Sage PR tax calculation - whacked out Federal Withholding

    I just had a client tell me she applied the update from the message when opening payroll data entry today and when she ran payroll the Federal Withholding is way overstated.  Like $100 more per employee than the last payroll.  Anyone else having similar reports?  The good thing is she caught it in PR audit report.  Does anyone know to what folder PR update files are downloaded on the local server?  Can they be restored back to an earlier version than the one downloaded and updated today?

    What were the check dates? December 31st by any chance?

    Good question.  She said it was for a 2019 payroll but I didn't ask which date.  I remember there was something last week about using 12/31 versus 12/30.

    Just confirmed it was 12/31 check date.  last check for this year.  BINGO - 12/30 works fine for her and her posting requirements.

    Have not heard anything.  Just checked the Knowledgebase for Defect ID 111461 and it still says "Engineering is currently working on a hotfix and targeted for release with Payroll Product Update 2.20.0"

    Final follow up.  My client called Sage support and they said "just do manual taxes"!  As per this thread I suggested she use 12/30 and all was well.  Happy camper due to 90Minds coming through yet again!

    The KB article for this issue should really clearly issue which version(s) of payroll this applies to. Sage clearly has let all their editors go. 

    Don't get me wrong - the more confusing that Sage makes this KB the better it is for consultants because most customers give up trying to understand the KB. However, that's not really the best customer experience. And partners who don't have a group to feed info from must be really out in the dark ( quite a few of them show up in Sage City several months or a year behind ).

    I had a customer reporting today federal W/H double what it should be. Pay check date of 12/31/19. Hot fix PR6015T corrected the calculation. Luckily they caught it before printing checks.

    We loaded 2.20 without the hot fix and the withholding amounts were correct for checks dated 12/31/2019 and 01/01/2020.
