  • 1.  Sage PR 2.26.1 Release

    Anyone encountering this message when downloading the PR update?  I encounter the message when downloading DSD programs but now it is happening with Sage's.  I can get around it.  What is causing this annoyance?

    Pretty sure I got that, too, although I feel like the first time I downloaded it, I did not. But don't trust my memory.  I do know I got it on a client machine recently.

    It's Microsoft.  They maintain a list of "safe" downloads, and anything not on the list gets a warning.

    Jeff,

    This is coming from Microsoft SmartScreen, not anything specific to Sage or DSD. They've tightened their security model and now rely heavily on download "reputation."

    Since these updates are versioned EXEs and don't get downloaded in huge volume, each new release starts out with low reputation, which triggers the "isn't commonly downloaded" warning even if it's from a trusted source.

    So nothing wrong with the file itself, just Microsoft being more aggressive with how they flag newer or less common downloads.

    @Jim Woodhead - Not sure when it started exactly, but I have encountered the issue with DSD for several years now.  Not a brick wall stop, but a thorn in the paw irritant.  Thanks for clarifying.
