As posted in the Sage Partner Hub on 3/22/2023:
Sage 100 Last update: March 22, 2023 – For internal and Sage Business Partner use only. Do not distribute to customers or otherwise post or share in any public forum or format.
Effective with the scheduled December 2023 release of Payroll 2.24, customers on Sage 100 versions 2018 and 2019 must upgrade to one of the following supported versions to install the latest release of Payroll:
- 2023.x
- 2022.x
- 2021.x
- 2020.x
Several years ago, the installation of Payroll was split from the core Sage 100 product and since then we have enjoyed the ability to continually update the Payroll module while allowing customers to be on legacy versions of the software.
Due to compatibility issues with the latest software provided by our tax reporting partner, the Sage 100 Payroll 2.24 release will not be compatible with versions of Sage 100 prior to 2020 (6.20.0).
Important Note: Customers running unsupported legacy Payroll versions do not have the option of a separate Payroll installation and are not impacted by this change.
Apparently, Sage will continue to have an N-2 ( Current and two prior versions ) support policy for Sage 100 while payroll will be on an N-3 support policy. There is no indication of when this customer communication is going out. If I were to make a bet I would put $100 on "never" with a side bet on "let the partner deliver the bad news".
