We are supposed to be business mgt tech experts to our customers. So, what should we be advising our customers to do to mitigate this risk? Until Sage releases a "run without internet access" update, Sage Payroll customers will continue to have this risk.
Is, Wayne's "Prepared to you your taxes manually" a good option? I am skeptical.
Chuck and I always encourage our customers to simply move to a complete online payroll service, simply for ROI and management focus reasons. Does anybody on this thread have a sense of how ADP and others deal with outages? I haven't researched it recently, but my sense is that it's been a very long time since ADP el al had a serious internet access episode. Are they more reliable?
Or is it simply to tell the customer, "Ensure that you have a 3-day buffer for payroll processing. If there is an internet problem, they never last more than day, and you just resume processing the next day." Am I missing something with this recommendation?
I really am curious about the collective wisdom of this crowd on this question.

Subject: Sage Payroll Tax site down?
As a backup calculation method, I know you can enter manual taxes. The issue might be entering the employer portion of those taxes which Sage typically calculates.
Here's a Sage site checker which shows the status of all Sage services.

There is usually a lag from when systems are interrupted and when these status sites get updated.
