Bob, Bob........  At the last minute I finally signed up.  Got a "deal" rate.  I think I signed up for the ONLY Sage 100 break out session - What's with Sage 100 - brought to you by the one and only Linda Cade.  Are there other pertinent Sage 100 sessions?  I found one for CRM.  What am I missing?

To start with, there was some great child birthing info by the 1st keynote speaker as he was using that to get to his point.  To me, it took too long.  I got the idea within the first 30 seconds.  I always hope that they'll spend more time on running your business, sales training and provide back up data that you can use.  BUT, this is a repeat of the 9 Sage Summits I've attended.  "Partners are great, sell verticals, sell the cloud which seems to be Intaact and X3.  I probably wouldn't have signed up but I have gotten value out of a lot of keynotes, my favorite being "Will It Make The Boat Go Faster".

I watched a little bit of the main keynote. Nothing there really inspired me. I think my remark was that it sounded as if I was listening to a Sage earnings call. Part of this might be the remoteness of the conference.

Also, some of the key concepts that they ( finally ) brought up - build IP, sell IP - are not new and they are things publishers have been pushing their channel to do for many years. My rough translation is - Publisher makes money on the subscription, VAR makes money on the service and special sauce.

Perhaps what these remote shows do is make me realize how much of the value in a conference is happening at lunch or on activities outside the conference.

Certainly there are options to sign up for a zoom one-on-one call with any of the ISVs however jumping from one video call to another is not high on my things to do list at the moment.

I'm unsure how much new info will be presented for the Sage 100 road ahead. I felt like Sage was woefully unprepared ( deer in the headlights would be my alternate description ) for the last few road a heads so I had low expectations at what might be covered at a meeting which seems to be an Intacct/X3 conference.

have to agree.  Main takeaway from conference is networking.  Starting conversations with complete strangers who change the reseller arc for you.  90M would not exist in the present form had there not been a conference in Palm Springs in the early 00's.  Haven't quite figured out the secret of striking up a virtual conversation with a near stranger.  Plus the slim Sage 100 pickings lessen my enthusiasm.

Did I miss the 90M meetup?

Did anyone attend any of the Sage 100 sessions? I saw a screen capture of what I think was displayed as the roadmap and it looked to be largely related to updating PM and various other related touch points.

I’m increasingly wondering if any improvements are going to happen to any BMS products that aren’t perceived as a stepping stone to enable the user to migrate toward Intacct.

Below are the Q&A from the session.
    1)  Sage seems to be reinventing the wheel for many enhancements and
    2) Still puzzling about what REALLY happened with PM development.  Seems that there are Sage development standards and MD development standards.  I was always under the impression that Sage set the MD standards, not vice versa.  And it also appears that Sage wanted more out of the rewrite.  As I recall, during a MOTM session several years back about the JC rewrite to framework, the developer WANTED to fix some inadequate code but Sage said no, just rewrite what is there (IOW, don't improve our poor code).  What gives?

    05-25 12:47

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

Hi all, Linda and I are also on the chat and ready for your questions!

    05-25 12:54

    DAN HANSEN:

Is the personally Identifiable Information encryption, across multiple areas, or just in certain spots?

    05-25 12:58

    LINDA CADE:

Dan, PII is primarily in Payroll, but also across Accounts Receivable and GL

    05-25 13:01

    DAN HANSEN:

Is there something you can share, that would show where specifically the PII is in AR.  Have a medical customer who has asked for encryption to protect customer information through sage 100.  Would like to know specifics, so know what is possible for this client.  No rush, can be provided at the end, or e-mailed to me after the fact.  Thank-you :-).

    05-25 13:02

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

How interesting. Do you find that this is a question from many healthcare companies or just this one customer?

    05-25 13:03

    MICHAEL HAINES:

I think what Mr. Hansen is talking about will be important to many customers

    05-25 13:04

    DAN HANSEN:

And really, across other modules where customer information is located, like SO, and inventory to some extent (in my case).  But other areas like Job cost i could see also.

    05-25 13:05

    LINDA CADE:

I believe there is a video available that shows the encryption across the modules. I will hunt that down and send to you later today.

    05-25 13:06

    MICHAEL HAINES:

Linda, I would be interested in this as well.  Thanks very much.

    05-25 13:06

    YODIT TEKLEMARIAM:

    Great session Linda and Phuong!

    05-25 13:06

    LINDA CADE:

If this information is of interest to multiple parties, perhaps I can investigate getting something posted to a public forum.

    05-25 13:07

    DAN HANSEN:

Will look for that. Thank-you :-)

    05-25 13:07

    PAULA SMITH:

That would be good Linda.. I would be interested in having that information to share with clients as well.

    05-25 13:07

    MICHAEL HAINES:

Thanks very much for this session all the best

    05-25 13:07

    DAWN KULBACKI:

Linda, I would also be interested in the AR/SO PII info.

    05-25 13:07

    NANCY TEIXEIRA:

Great job @Phuong Nguyen and @Linda Cade

    05-25 13:08

    NKULULEKO MATLALA:

    Great sessions ladies.

    05-25 13:08

    JIM FULLER:

Thank you ladies!. Very well dome.

    05-25 13:08

    TOM HEROLD:

    Terrific Session. Thank you!

Very excited fo the future of Sage 100

    05-25 13:09

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

Seems like all these enhances are stuff we can get already today - that does not seem much like a road ahead??  But I came in late maybe there is more

    05-25 13:09

    VAN STRICKLAND:

Thanks for the information, I know this was scheduled for an hour.  Will there be anything in addition?

    05-25 13:10

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

When is ebiz going to be compatible with Premium Edition?   Where was the new ecom modules that has been talked about for years?

    05-25 13:11

    SUE WOLF:

I would also be interested in a document that shows the PII encryption across all modules.

    05-25 13:12

    LINDA CADE:

John, we are seeking a partner to work with us to replace the e-biz modules in the near-term so that it will be compatible with Premium editions.

    05-25 13:13

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

Got it. I'll try to put a white paper together on PII encryption

    05-25 13:24

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

@Van Strickland - no, the rest of the session is open for chat and for those who joined late to catch up and to ask us questions

    05-25 13:26

    VAN STRICKLAND:

    Thanks Phuong!

    05-25 13:28

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

I have to ask - as we lead customers down the path of making investments.  are you developing your own Multibin Solution or using Scanco or DSD?

    05-25 13:29

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

Same thing on Multi-company and Multi Currency - Assume you are just using DSD?

    05-25 13:30

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

    Hey @Johnny Pabian . For multi-currency, I understand we're developing our own.

    05-25 13:31

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

For Multi-bin and Multi-company, @Linda Cade will need to confirm.

    05-25 13:31

    LINDA CADE:

For Multi-bin, we will be developing our own solution.  Same for Multi-company.

    05-25 13:32

    RICHARD HAYWOOD:

    Thanks Phuong!

    05-25 13:33

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

No prob. Thanks @Linda Cade for the heavy lifting there

I was searching for a good emoji but these options are terrible. insert >>happy face here. Lol

    05-25 13:34

    VAN STRICKLAND:

I am glad to see Projected Demand will be resurrected as that has been an issue in recent demos.

    05-25 13:35

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

thank for the feedback - so if you are doing Multibin - is there plans to be native barcode support?  Otherwise the multibin might be dead without supporting hardware

    05-25 13:36

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

and when I say barcode - I mean barcode scanners

    05-25 13:38

    LINDA CADE:

There is no need for barcode scanners any longer as barcodes can be read by most any mobile phone or tablet these days.  We have no plans to do any work in that area at this time.

    05-25 13:39

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

so will a mobile phone be able to do a bin transfer?

    05-25 13:43

    JOHNNY PABIAN:

I am thinking out loud here - but it just seems to be confusing the market place more - we already have "free" basic  multibin from DSD and scanco. - could the sage development could be doing more than reinventing the wheel?

    05-25 13:45

    PHUONG NGUYEN:

Hey Johnny. I appreciate you bringing that up. I'll reach out to you separately to chat this out in person

    05-25 13:45

    JEFFREY SCHWENK:

Can you explain the difference between developer standards and Sage standards?  Why after four years does Production management not meet Sage framework standards?  Is that NOT a requirement of a master developer?

    05-25 13:46

    LINDA CADE:

We want to bring somewhat more than the minimum into the core code base.

    05-25 13:47

    VAN STRICKLAND:

Thank you Linda and Phuong for sticking around to answer questions!  The road map looked good, thank again!

    05-25 13:52

    LINDA CADE:

@Jeffrey Schwenk, developers write code to address a specific customer request or need and often overlook the interactions with other modules and pieces of code.  Sage standards require testing across all modules and platforms, including Custom Office, Visual Integrator, and Business Objects.  We hold our in-house developers to a much higher standard.  No Master Developer ever codes to those standards, despite our guidance and their best efforts.  Beyond that, each development house has their own philosophical take on how best to accomplish a goal.  Sage development has an institutional standard that differs from external development houses.  That is why we never take external code and simply "drop it into" our code base.

    05-25 13:54

    LINDA CADE:

@Johnny Pabian , yes, a mobile phone will be able to do a bin transfer.

How much of this is public that can be shared with customers? It sure would be nice to be able to provide some guidance to customers about what is coming for their solutions other than annually 6% price hikes.

Certainly, consultant Q&A and comments are private but comments from Sage that they are developing Multi-Bin and Multi-Company might be material information that a prospective customer would want to know before acquiring a third-party.

P.S. - I'll take $100 that Sage saying they are developing Multi-Bin and Multi-Company is a negotiating tactic to use when offering to purchase an existing enhancement or two.

P.P.S. - Imagine for a moment that Sage does write their own multi-bin and multi-company ( throw in multi-currency too though they didn't address that on chat ) ..... how confusing would that be for customers, consultants and support techs

I'm also not entirely certain what the desired treatment of the PII which a few people asked about.

    - Do they want certain sensitive fields to be encrypted so you can only report on them with the same type of custom reports + PII that Payroll requires?
    - Do they want these files to be encrypted so you can't drag and drop them from one system to another?
    - Do they just want better security ( SQL ? )
    - Or is there some other issue that I'm missing?

Perhaps the real problem is that for most versions of Sage 100 the entire data folder must be accessible with virtually full rights to Sage 100 users. I know some sites have used published apps or other technologies to lessen the exposure to the full data folder.

Isn't the happy medium to have companies who require more secure data to use SQL and rely on SQL security for protection?

Maybe I'm overlooking some basic issue?

@Wayne Schulz - I don't recall signing any "Vegas Rules" statement so all comments are fair game.  I wouldn't attribute any reseller specifically but Linda Cade's comments are repeatable.  And beyond the next six months, I would treat everything as pie in the sky, even their rewrite of PM to "Sage" development standards.

Goodness, I sure miss the old days when you could belly up to the bar and unwind after a long day of less than stellar sessions with a great group of resellers.  Now you suffer in silence......  Dear Sage, can I have a refund?

Laugh of the Day - I attended the Sage CRM session hosted by David Beard.  First time meet up for me.  Seems to be a great guy!  I asked why there hasn't been any integration with Sage 100 Vendors and CRM.  After all, purchasing departments have great need to track vendor requests, inquiries, etc.  His reply?  Sage 100 builds the interface from within.  He would be more than happy to set up a meeting with Linda Cade and talk about it.  While I appreciate the gesture, I said Linda has her hands full keeping up with compliance issues getting PM rewritten to Sage standards......  OMG!!!!

Who REALLY believes that Sage loves Sage 100?  No matter how often Phuong and Linda say it?

By my count, there were three Sage 100 specific sessions - (The Bumpy Road Ahead, What's (so little) New in Sage v2021 and WO vs PM - What's the DIFF?

So I thought I would hang in the back of the room of an intacct presentation.  But when I go to the Intacct breakout session listing, nothing appears.  At ALL!  I ask the Live Help Desk and they don't have an answer either.

So I ask my PAM - Her response - There are specific Intacct classes that are available for Intacct partners only. The summit team has set regulations based on partners certification as to what classes they can attend.

Now many of you may not have noticed as you are affiliated with firms that have an Intacct practice.  But from my standpoint, this is just another slap in the face...

I don't know WTH goes on behind the scenes at Sage, but it seems like the 100 partners get dissed frequently. Not the model for doing business that I would recommend.

I don't know WTH goes on behind the scenes at Sage,

Me: Sage paid $850 million for Intacct. In my opinion, they are not going to let that acquisition fail. Short of spinning Intacct out as a separate public company I don't see how the Sage Group PLC story progresses in any other way short of all roads leading to Intacct.

As an aside, many of us have seen this migration push many times before. First, it was with  MAS 500 and attempting to migrate anyone on MAS 200 up to 500. Then we went through a couple of years of a spreadsheet-driven Sage telling us what add-on products our customers definitely wanted.  Then we spent a couple of years migrating license types from perpetual to subscription. If we are exhausted by this - - imagine how long-time Sage customers feel...

Yeah. Beard has always been miserable about admitting to 2 weaknesses in Sage CRM: integration to Sage 100 and interaction with Outlook.

Serious Sage CRM partners, such as @Dan Cousins, always include GUMU and his Accelerator in proposals to make Sage CRM a very strong product.

Aside from the too-perky, over-rehearsed presentations, I think the Summit so far is good. IMO the session that us 100 people need now is a couple of good, realistic "Winning against the competition" sessions. I think that Sage's deafening silence in this area speaks far louder than management periodically slipping in references to presentations about "new sales are actually quite good."

Sage 100 is a mature product. Nothing fundamentally wrong with that. We already know that significant enhancements will be released slowly if at all.

What do you think the Sage 100 sessions should be? I think all they can do is explain and promote opportunities for customers to extend and enhance the value they get from Sage 100. SPC is certainly part of that (especially with the new program to offer it through other cloud host vendors -- @Gary Feldman do you have added comments on this?

AP Automation and Doc Mgt are other areas that customers ask for.reporting and BI are big. (see screenshot from today.)

I just watched a session about a "Selling Trough Curiosity" program, and one about taking a customer's mindset. I frankly think all 90 Minders could benefit from this even though they aren't formally "in sales."

Sage is quite clear about where Sage 100 sits in their *strategic* plans. It is definitely NOT the "shiny new object" to bring the future to Sage; Intacct plays that role. (Intacct is quite exclusive, and meant for partners larger than the classic Sage 100 partner) -- but this is not arbitrary as today's market requires it..

My honest question - What does everybody think Sage should have presented for Sage 100 partners during this event?
