Sage Live I started inquiring about Sage Live training and certification when I was in Irvine. There actually is a certification course for implementation (4 days, 4 hours each) for $800, which is somewhat reasonable in terms of time and dollar investment. In order to start and complete that course, however, one must complete the certification for Salesforce Admin 201. This is a 5-day course and $4,250. So for an investment of $5,000+ and two weeks, you can be a certified Sage Live Implementer. I hesitate to get started on any of this until there is some evidence that Sage Live is truly going to be viable.

This sounds similar I'm $$ to what Sage hoped partners would invest several years ago to sell their former time tracking integrated solution (which I can't even remember the name of).

Maybe I'm wrong but I sense Sage Live as predominantly being sold direct (Sage also calls this ""digital marketing"").

Yes, it will always be sold direct from the group in Atlanta. If we have a prospect, we send them to that group, but then we would get a commission on the sale, although I have seen nothing formal about that. If we supplied the prospect and are certified as implementers, then it is directed back to us for implementation. If we perform well as implementers, then they are inclined to send more clients to us, not just those we identified. This is not a product that you use $80K+ consultants for, so I am looking at a lower cost model, although starting in the hole at $5,000 is less appealing.

At this steep cost to enter barrier, one might want to market to the small independent resellers to be their referral partner for Sage Live also...

If Sage Live flies it's going to be a model where the consultant is only using it for ancillary services such as monthly write-up or accounting analysis. I can't see it lending itself to a lot of standalone consulting.

No free-form consulting, but specific consulting packages with fixed pricing - data migration, data integration, chart of accounts customization, posting rules definition, dimension and tags definition, . . .
