A customer is asking whether they can use Sage Intelligence on a workstation that does NOT have Sage 100 on it and still drill into live Sage 100 data.

I believe the answer is no and that if the external user does NOT have Sage 100 access that they can get a PDF or a file with formulas converted to values but that they would not have access to live updates.

Am I on the right track?

    Hi Wayne
I'm not sure on the earlier, standalone versions of SI as nowhere did it ask for the SOTAMAS90 connection.  But once embedded into Sage 100, yes they would need Sage 100 workstation setup done as it's installed with Wksetup. Now that the Addins are installed with Wksetup, that's a good question on whether they could open an Excel SI Report that hasn't been converted to values even though they don't have a Report Manager or Viewer License.  Theoretically, they have always needed Report Manager or Viewer to open a 'non converted' report.  I would think they still do but haven't tested or come upon the question yet.

They ultimately wanted the CFO to be able to view updated data from Sage Intelligence. I think that the answer is that the CFO would need to have Sage 100 on the computer that he was viewing an SI report from in order to be able to update the data.

A better question might be 'Why doesn't he CFO have or want Sage on his or her PC?"  LOL
