Sage Intelligence Registration Keys on Portal

  • 1.  Sage Intelligence Registration Keys on Portal

    I imagine most you have access to customer registration keys on the portal.  Is it just me or do others not see the SI designer (and other) keys? Maybe because many of my accounts do not use SI I have not noticed before.  Today, I am working with client (purchased Sage in 2017) to set up SI and their SI keys are missing from the portal.  I look at several other accounts and their keys are missing.  Earlier this spring, I am setting up a NEW system and their keys were missing.

    I contact Sage and their standard response is to request the keys via Smartsheet.

    Can anyone solve the case of the missing SI keys?

    Same experience here. Existing customers were issued automatically when SI was introduced. We have had to request them for every new customer over at least the last couple of years.

    I think I've run into this as well.

    For customers who begin seriously using SI, I usually advise them to purchase the bundle which used to be (maybe it still is? )  $99/mo for unlimited Designer, etc. Because of that, I would typically get the keys sent on the order confirmation and/or invoice so some of my key issues were resolved because the customer made a purchase.

    Are you calling Sage sales or support for the key?  Support will normally get you the key while you are on the phone.  Choose the installation option for support.

    These are all great workarounds that address the symptom.  Now that I realize this is not a one off oopsie by Sage, I will take appropriate actions to mitigate future issues.  But it's just an aspirin to dull the pain. 

    Why is it happening at all?  What is the portal for if it isn't a one stop informational experience?  Why do WE have to sit on hold for support or submit a SmartSheet request?

    Without fail so far, I've found that keys are on the portal for clients who already had keys because they had purchased SI before Sage began including one SI Report Manager and Designer license in upgrades, and keys are not on the portal for those who hadn't.  When I call Support, they have to generate the keys; it's not just that they're not on the portal; they don't exist yet.  Now I just automatically request the keys through Support when a client wants to activate SI for the first time; sometimes I have to wait a few days.

    This has been my experience as well.  For clients that now get one SI Report Manager and/or Designer license included in their subscription, I need to request the keys for those clients.

    So one might ask why issues like this are raised MOTM's Sage dog and pony show.  This lack of information affects everyone of us.  A death from a thousand papercuts.  Isn't it a waste of time for the Sage support staff to supply the information as well?  Even more so for them.

    (Product issues affect me more than admin nonsense).
