Sage Intelligence for Sage 100 v 2016, Excel 2016 Report Designer Reports #name shows for all SI functions on reports opened on two workstations. I just found out about the second. I've gone through KB 30435 and was able to get one workstation working last night, briefly, by running the report with Excel open and then going to the COM Add-ins and checking on BIGenerator. It didn't stick the option will not stay selected. I've run a workstation reinstall as admin, checked UAC is off and installed Excel2016CompatibilityPack.exe fix from SI. Sage KB article keeps refer to Report Designer Add-in v.1.0Setup.exe run but I can't find the darn thing or even know if that is the right version for Sage 100 v 2016. An extra large martini (or beverage of your choice) at MOTM 2018 to the winning solution provider.

Did you make sure and give full or modify permissions to the bi* folders in programfilesx86/common files?

Aah, good idea, I'll check that.

A client said they had another excel add in called Solver and they disabled that and it started working. In their case they could not see the side panel but they also saw the #name error

I saw this customer had the solver add in too, but it listed in the disabled coms.

okay full permissions on all BI folders under program files (x86) and checked on BI Generator in Excel coms and verified solver unselected - no change still see #name

Is the Report Designer Add-in active? if not browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BIExcelFunctions1.1\32bit (if 32 bit excel)\Sage.BI.ExcelFunctions1.1.xll. If Excel is 64 bit (excel, not windows) then there is a 64 bit folder to find the same file.

This worked for me a couple of weeks ago with a #name error

That's a great document thank you Jane. I'll be remoting in to the customer's system again later tonight. Thanks @NancyHanson and @JaneCavanaugh I'll go through all those suggestions and let you know what works. There is a martini on the line.

Did you get this resolved? I had a client that had this happen and it would not stick at all! It was a TS environment, but the final resolution was permissions settings in RegEdit. I just went through and gave full permissions to anything and everything Excel and BI related. Not sure which one it was that did it, but it solved the problem.

No it's still not resolved, I got to a 50/50 split sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I did run through folder permissions but not RegEdit. I'm going to run a complete uninstall and install of workstation setup just to rule that out. The only thing I found so far was the Visual Studio Tools weren't installed has to run this install from MS downloads.

May not be totally related but a fix to running SI at one of our clients where there was one workstation that wouldn't keep the Designer functioning was in regedit: The client did a search for BI Generator and the 1st instance that showed up showed the LoadBehavior set to 0, rather than 3. He went through all the rest in the registry and they were properly set to 3. The SI designer worked properly after that.

That's good idea, I'll check it. I recall in some of the 300 times (slight exaggeration) of enabling the BI generator that I'd sometimes see ""loaded"" vs. ""unloaded"".

I've been through the registry and set BIGenartor to 3, uninstalled, reinstalled workstation setup, checked permissions, security, UAC, run SI Hotfix 27868, verified and reinstalled MS Visual Studio 2010 Tools, MS SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2, Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime 3.0. Sometimes, an SI Report Designer report will open and be fine, that's the exception and not the rule. In attached screen shot, you can see all three add-ons are 'enabled' but #name shows in the cells. On the last reinstall the path for Report Designer Add-in 1.2.0 (Custom Task Pane Helper) no longer shows. I've done an uncheck, add, browse to try and restore that, but no luck (and it doesn't' seem to affect another workstation that also doesn't have the path for this). A little digging on MS site reported an xll issue with macro buttons but I can't see anything else reported about add-ons for Excel 2016, Windows 7 64-bit.

@MoiraGoggin can you send me the Compatibility Pack installer? The link on the Sage KB doesn't work.
