Sage Intelligence Connector for an Excel Container. I have a basic Excel file (Excel 2013 32 Bit) (.xlsx) that I can map to using the connector but when I check/test the connection I am getting a message that says: ""It was not possible to connect to the database. The error returned was: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] External table is not in the expected format. SQLState = S1000."" This happens on every single Excel Connection I try to create, does anyone know what the problem / fix for this issue is?

Does this also happen directly in Excel when connecting to ODBC? What version of Excel?

It's Excel 2013 32Bit. I was able to resolve this by 1. saving the Excel file as a Excel 97-2003 compatible workbook and had to 2.name a range in the source Excel file 3. the leave the Excel file open when performing the Check/Test on the Connection and subsequently able to write a report. I did not need top have the source Excel file open to test the Container or Expressions after that. Although this did work it seem very quirky and seems like we should be able to use a more modern / compatible version of Excel and have a more consistent behavior. Thank you for your reply!

Glad you got it resolved and letting us know what steps you took. Agree it's quirky!
