Sage Industry Solutions Webinar Today 2/20/20 1 PM

Sage is set to discuss their upcoming Industry Solutions for Sage 100 and Sage 300 today during a 1 pm webinar for partners. If you attended any of the Thrive On events you probably have already seen this. The detail I haven't seen yet is a discussion of pricing.

On February 26, 2020, Sage will introduce two new Industry Solutions for Sage 100cloud: Sage 100cloud for Distribution and Sage 100cloud for Manufacturing.

    Register Here

Sage has made a big effort to NOT refer to this as a bundle.....but rather as a solution....

To me, this seems like Project Diamond ( aka Sage Extended Enterprise Suite ) with a slightly different twist. I will be interested to see if it doesn't meet the same fate.

Here's the slide Sage displayed during the first Thrive On in Atlanta which explains this bundle solution ( except for pricing ).

I hope it doesn't work out like EES.  For my clients, that was like buying a mansion in Mississippi.  Great, you got a good deal, and live large, but when you decide to move from MI, don't expect to live in a mansion anymore unless you pay through the nose.  They're just stuck in perpetual EES license Mississippi because the comparable 100c bundle (ooh, the B word) costs a fortune.

I felt like EES failed because Sage mis-priced the bundle. It was significantly cheaper for many of my customers to migrate and I moved as many as I could before they shut down EES.

The idea of EES and Industry Solutions is not bad if you need the bundle. EES was a push for CRM which many customers benefited from and others overpaid for.

It is interesting in that bundles are growing in concept around the industry, but are also a throwback to “sell as much as you can up from because the customer may not buy later” mindset.

We will be discussing this and similar thoughts in the Selling Solutions in a Subscription Marketplace MOTM session on Saturday.

What Sage lacks is stewardship for their product(s). With the 3-4 year rotation their execs have been on there is nobody planning the long term future for products.

I hope Sage has an answer to “what will be different about this solution “bundle” vs EES?”

Will people go out and get a production management and Sage alerts certification? Yeah some will. Will they make $? Not unless they support more than one or two ( tip: every bar thinks they’re going to do dozens and dozens ). Tip2: there is so little margin in selling that if you get certified you best be planning to sell significant consulting

Will there be any management there who will know what EES was?

Still have not spotted this being released.
The original ship date was supposed to be 2/26/2020.
I would not be surprised if getting the product into Sage's order entry system is at least part ( if not all ) of the holdup.

My take away is this is targeted at NEW Sage customers and not upgrades for existing clients.  How many of us are living on new client adds versus maintaining and upgrading the existing base?  I proposed to Timothy Harfield they at least make this available as an option for clients that may be on Essentials looking to add distribution or MFG.
