  • 1.  Sage Enterprise rebrand back to X3

When we launched Sage Business Cloud in 2017, we realigned the naming of our products behind the benefit they provided to our customers through descriptive naming. The purpose of this program was to provide simplicity for customers by helping them to quickly understand the capabilities and benefits of the solutions we provide.

Listening to feedback from customers and partners, we have learned that the name Sage Business Cloud Enterprise Management isn't always appropriate or clear for customers, as it is not reflective of the market and segment this product services so well. We were very grateful to so many of you for your candor when we were together at the Sage Enterprise Management Partner Summit in Dubai in April. Some of you also shared that Sage Business Cloud Enterprise Management is not easy nomenclature to use within go-to-market activity, events and lead generation marketing, with teams beginning to use the abbreviated term 'Sage EM' instead.

Your feedback and the results of our research were compelling and provided us with the data we needed to make the decision to return to 'Sage X3' as the name for the product. We're aware that there is still a lot of brand recognition for 'X3' and we see that in things like search queries, so our decision was to return to this name, rather than adopt a new name.

We'll do our best to minimise any confusion – and with you, of course, we want to reassure our customers that there will be no disruption to their use of the solution, whether they are using it on premise, in the cloud or in a hybrid deployment. We hope that by making this change you appreciate the weight your counsel has here at Sage, and that we are laser focused on working in partnership with you to drive the success of this important product.

    Next steps

We'll be working to transition the name back over the coming months with all efforts completed by the start of FY20 in October. We will also support you, our partners, to make the change. The Partner team will collaborate with you to understand what support you need from us here at Sage. In the coming weeks I will also be inviting you to a Sage X3 Partner 'All-Hands' call where we can work through the detail of this program together to ensure we are set up for success.

In the meantime, should you have any questions, please direct these to your Partner Account Manager who can support you.

As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership.

    Sincerely,

    Jennifer

Or Sage could have just said "Sage Enterprise Management will revert to its previous name of Sage X3." Those who expressed concerns know why, and the rest of us still called it X3.

While Sage is at it, why not take "cloud" off of the Sage 100 and Sage 300 brands?

Considering Intacct is the only Sage product that actually is "Cloud" and was NOT renamed "cloud", it's time to fire EVERY ONE, at the top floor at Sage.

A 1 person VAR knows how to run this company better.

    It's all so silly.

At least they seem to recognize the mis-step instead of blindly plowing forward. I admit I chuckled at this claim: "The purpose of this program was to provide simplicity for customers by helping them to quickly understand the capabilities and benefits of the solutions we provide."

Moving from MAS to Sage 100 and Accpac to Sage 300 was not super-helpful for anyone except some moron in Sage marketing looking to "improve the brand" with names versus actually improving the products.

And let's not start on adding "Cloud" to the name. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA. Delusional.

+1 to Mark's comments and John's comment was spot on - all the Sage PSG people, Sage partners, and customers that I deal with still call it "X3".

On the positive side: at least Sage had the intestinal fortitude to recognize the mis-step so good on them for that.

I wonder if the naming is going to remain Sage Business Cloud X3 or whether Sage will start unraveling Sage Business Cloud branding?
