Sage CRM Twitter Identity @SageCRM Twitter is being discontinued and must go to more generic @SageNAmerica. No highlighting at Summit and now this. What could be next? http://mail-sage.com/2CT1-E5N1-FE3YFMSXC1/cr.aspx

It's not just @SageCRM - other products are being rolled in to the generic account too. I don't understand the strategy - specificity trumps generality for most marketing. @Businessofconsulting

With this logic, why have @SageNAmerica and @SageUK? Go with @SageWorld.

Didn't UK recently hire a WW VP Marketing? I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Not!

And Sage missed out on @Sage. That belongs to some guy named Brian from Chicago.

It appears the new person thinks they can force people to get tweets about all of Sage instead of just what they are interested in...how to lose followers and piss people off.

I asked Sage if we could get a list of which accounts transferred. My guess is that Sage would prefer to have fewer accounts to monitor - especially since turnover in local offices means that some Twitter accounts may not be as closely watched as others. Monitoring for hashtags if quite a bit easier for support and it also removes some of the possibility someone sends a tweet to the wrong account, etc.

It's also a lot easier to send one message to all of your products if you get customers used to interesting with a more limited set of Twitter accounts. No need to go through a laundry list of Twitter accounts and send the same message hoping that people see them.

Marketing 101: The more specific the audience is, the more specific the message can be. The more specific the message is, the better the results will be.

Looks as if Sept 30 is the cutoff date and Sage doesn't have a list but they will ""be consolidating all of the product social handles onto @sagenamerica and @sageuk....and they will all move on September 30.

I think this is clearly the most important work Sage could be doing to move sales forward

In communicating with David Beard about this, his response was ""Consolidation of voices & aggregation of activity, John."" What else can he say, except to support the party line?
