Freedom Day????  Are they headed to the beaches on the Gulf of America?

An article in the Washington Post kept calling it

Juneteenth - In 2021, President Biden signed into law the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act - which marked June 19 as a federal holiday.

Where are they getting "Freedom" day?

June 19, 1865 is when a Union general in Houston read Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation to the slaves in Texas. They had not heard that news in the 2.5 years since Lincoln declared it.

It's been an informal holiday in Texas for a long time. It has everything to do with freedom for suppressed people and the joy it brings. It seems the president is turning the original and long-time understanding of a phrase into something else.
