  • 1.  Sage Business Intelligence Activate on two servers

    Hi There,

I wanted to ask if it's possible to activate Sage Business Intelligence using the same license on two servers. Specifically, a customer currently has Sage 100 2022 on one server and is migrating to Sage 100 2024. Can we activate the Business Intelligence module on the new server while the migration is in progress?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

No, you cannot use same license on 2 servers.

    Thanks Michele.

Given that this would be a Terminal Server and assuming there is more than one SI workstation license, would it be possible to assign one of them to one of the servers and the other to the second server?

In my experience, the only time the SI License Manager ever complains is if you have more workstations allocated than the license allows, so perhaps specifying that allocation might allow us to do this to facilitate testing during the migration?

I feel like it doesn't check whether it's currently installed on a different server.  I've used client licenses on my machine to validate what they are licensed for and it hasn't squawked.

I have not been able to activate on more servers or computers than the licensing allows.  You can try it and then if Sage Intelligence no longer works on the current server, you can un-license it on the new server.  The connector does count as a license.  So, if there is 1 report manager and the connector license, then you can have it on 2 different servers.

I am not sure but do believe the SI license count is enforced by local files in the repository.

If the new server is set up with a separate SI repository, the machines listed in License Manager for the new system "should" be managed locally in that new repository.  During upgrade projects I have set up the new SI repository in advance, used the client's keys to activate / register the new repository (for testing) without affecting the old / Live SI install.

    Thanks!
I think my main concern was whether the Sage license server would have an issue when "registering" the license key. If the license server allows two servers to be active at the same time, I'm not sure if the activated workstations are tracked on the Sage license server (which will effectively limit the workstations to the maximum licensed number of workstations across both servers), or tracked locally (which will allow the total number of workstations to be activated on each server). Arguably, that's probably likely again EULA, but I'm not concerned about that as this is only for the purpose of testing/migration.

Perhaps we'll give it a try and if we figure out anything more definitive, I can post it back here.

    Appreciate the feedback!
