I feel your customer's pain.
Truth be told, I was uncomfortable getting behind SB&P because of its reputation for being complicated. BUT our customer ($20m annual turnover) is having a
completely unsatisfactory experience with Prophix, which they bought primarily for budgeting and planning. The appeal of SB&P is that the software was essentially free, so with some modest implementation they could easily determine if it could replace Prophix. That very-low cost POC phase was essential.
I contacted Concur. Very helpful. They have a reference customer in the same business located nearby. Prophix's 3-yr TCO is north of $200k. Concur's will be ~1/3 of that, and the renewal date is 6 months out. So, if we can work out a decent POC cost to reduce the decision risk, this is quite viable.
My customer is smaller than the typical Prophix customer, so their price is high to my customer, but acceptable to a larger firm. It also means that Centage's price is likely typical for this size firm. A $20m prospect looking into budgeting and planning needs to figure out if they save $2k-$3k/month through using a tool that helps aggressively enforce budget expectations monthly.

I just spoke with Doug Leasure yesterday. He does consulting for Sage B&P. He told me about the end of life and he is not happy. I have a customer who just said on 9/30 that they were ready to implement it - even though they have not downloaded it or anything. Doug and I are having a conversation with the customer next week.

@Jerry Norman, going back about 6 years, I sold Sage B&P to a large customer and it basically flamed out, so then I sold them Centage. It was pricey but MUCH easier for the users to configure and use. They were my only sale of either product, so I remember nothing other than this one tidbit.

Sage Partner Hub is actually kept relatively up-to-date and like you say they had notice of this maybe a month or two ago?
