I've only done a few version 10 implementations so far, one was an upgrade from version 9 I believe. I've worked with version 9 for a number of years and version 10 is a big improvement and much nicer to work with, also more efficient when using the UI to build queries. My only gripe with it is that it seems to have a query timeout that is hardcoded to either 30 or 60 seconds and so for two clients, I was seeing out of box queries (the EventPak queries) timing out when querying against certain combinations of tables, especially those including large historical tables. So I found that I had to manually rewrite a number of queries to utilize sub-queries, temp tables or common table expressions depending on the complexity of the query. I have opened a case with Vineyardsoft on this near the beginning of the year but haven't gotten a resolution yet. All clients were running ProvideX versions of Sage 100 and I utilized the Linked Server tool via version 10's web portal. I did not use the Access database created by the KLF tool like you would do for version 9.

You do need to set up a system DSN pointing to the Sage 100 install and include company code and credentials when setting it up. You can then select this DSN when adding the Linked Server in version 10.

Hi Jeff,
I couldn't get to my client's system yesterday or I would have posted. This was a new install for the clent. I have not done any upgrades to 10 I had forgotten about the KLF issue that @Michelle Forsey mentioned. Bit of a PITA but it is only a one time thing.

Hi Robert
Thanks for the info - two questions:
1. Can you post a screenshot of the checkbox you refer to ?
2. Did you upgrade a customer from 9 to 10 or is this feedback from a new v10 install ?
Thanks again
Jeff

HI Guys, I have worked with the new version after having worked with the older version for many years. There was a really huge issue with it at first and once it was figured out what was going on it was easily fixed (after months of hair pulling and listening to the customer scream). I think they have resolved it but it but it boils down to the system trying to do a file copy every time it ran a report which would cause an error that would get logged and the logs very quickly became too large to mange. There is a checkbox that will prevent this (as they said, you shouldn't have to check it but best to be safe.
Outside of the initial issue it is really nice. Bit of getting used to the interface but easier to have one insead for 5. Also with the interface being a web page it is possible to access if from workstations if the firewall settings are updated.
