  • 1.  Sage 2021 Adv, PU2, Avalara not calculating sales tax properly wtih line item deposit

    Client just started experiencing this issue.  Has been using Avalara for over five years.  Since their customer may make multiple deposits before order is shipped, they enter these deposits as a Misc charge line item (nontaxable) on the SO.  Now when they do this, the deposit line is not recognized as non taxable by Avalara resulting in a credit balance.

    The latest DSD connector (3/22) is installed.  I am not sure if client has set the /DEP item code as non taxable on the Avalara dashboard.

    I also thought there was a thread with many posts on this subject but am unable to find it.

    Thoughts?

    An Avalara tax code can be assigned to items and miscellaneous items.  Look at SO setup, miscellaneous item maintenance, and click the More button, then AvaTax Tax Code.  See if there is a tax code assigned to the misc item.  If not, you may try assigning one.  There should be a list of Avalara Tax codes on their web site.

    It appears that the issue is in the Avalara configuration (website defaults).  I entered an order for a Michigan address.  Sage returned the correct value on tab 4 (zero net due).  I changed the test SO customer the one being used and it returned an incorrect value.  Reported results to customer for them to follow up with their Avalara dashboard settings.
