Sage 2017 Payroll issue with someone having left their limits at 118,500. So they found it prior to the last payroll. It used to be that you would change the PR3 FICA field from 0 to 118,500 and it would do the catchup for the 539.40 of tax and $8,700 of taxable earnings by running a tax calc. The client found the isseu because the dollars are picking up for the employees portion but not the employers. I have tried a couple test without success. Unless I am not remembering correctly part of the change is the PR3 file now retains the total of the FICA earnings and no longer zeros out when limit hit. Sage seems baffled by something that seems to come up each year. Need some help if someone has run into this in 2017. I am assuming this is a change and not a bug in this particular clients system.

Found a couple KBs might help. If they have had any manual PR checks it looks like this is a known issue, the work a rounds might help either way.

Thank you very much. It looks like you have to update the PR8 for the employers tax to get that right (since the let us know before posting). Then in this case the PR3 is fine. We will just need to edit the PR40 and call it a day. Interesting that the PR40 records seem to be using something other than the PR8 to determine the posting to the PR40.
