    I have a client on Sage 100 Premium 2016 with MAPADOC that we are trying to upgrade to Sage 100cloud Premium 2019. We were advised by SPS to install Sage 2019 on a new server, migrate the Sage 2016 data, install MAPADOC, and then do the data conversion to Sage 2019. The installation went fine, but we could not perform the initial data migration because MAPADOC was not yet installed in Sage 2019.

    Normally, when we encounter a module that doesn't exist in the target system we would copy the MAS90 folder to a new location, uninstall MAPADOC from the copy, and re-run the data migration. I am reluctant to do that, however, since I do not know what impact removing MAPADOC would have on the underlying Sage 2016 SQL database (which is still needed for production). Has anyone encountered this exception to the standard upgrade path for Sage 100 PREMIUM with MAPADOC? If so, how did you get around MAPADOC not being installed on the target system prior to migrating your data?

    Why not install MAPADOC on the new system before the migration?  (Then reinstall after the system migration).

    An excellent question! We actually did ask SPS to do that, and they did. Then we migrated the data, then re-installed, and then we converted the data. After all of that, we were not able to go into any data entry screens. We kept getting a message that Job Cost was not setup. The client is not even licensed for Job Cost and it has never been installed or activated. There is an article about this in the KnowledgeBase that points the finger at third party enhancements, so we uninstalled Sage and started again from scratch. This time we were sure to test all of the data entry screens using the ABX test company. All was good at that point. Then we had SPS reinstall MAPADOC and we did the migration, second re-install, and data conversion again. Same result. You can guess where this is going. SPS insists that their installation couldn't possibly produce the result we are seeing and that it must be a problem inherent to the Sage data we are bringing over. Sage points to the KB article and tells us that it is a problem with a third party enhancement.

    Now the only way we can determine who is correct is to migrate and convert the data BEFORE any third party enhancements are installed. To do that, we need to get around the fact that we cannot migrate if MAPADOC is NOT installed. So it's kind of a catch-22. If we could migrate without MAPADOC installed and still get the Job Cost error on all of our data entry screens, we could go back to Sage and show them that no third party enhancements are at play. If we don't get any errors after migrating and converting without MAPADOC installed, we could go to SPS and show them that the system works fine until the point where they install MAPADOC.

    Ray - Any chance Avalara AvaTax is installed? That is a common reason for the "J/C is not setup" message. In case you do, you could try to  re-register it's DLLs by browsing to the \mas90\AvaTax folder and running the BAT file (rt-click Run as Admin, suggest you first edit BAT to add a PAUSE at the end so you know it completed without error).

    Does the source system have an unmodified ABX company code you could migrate, to see if the error persists?  That should isolate the issue to system vs company data.

    The live 2016 system does not currently have an ABX company, but I should be able to add it and then either not activate or remove the MAPADOC module for that company. I will try this approach after SPS takes another look at it. They are escalating the issue with technical support and will be looking at it today or Monday.

    Ray - That is good news. If there are no other mods / enhancements, I can tell you from what you said you need the developer on the SPS team to troubleshoot this further. Hopefully you get the great Marthe Chensel.
