Sage 100c I did a search for ""Sage 100c"" on the sage.com website and received: ""Your search did not return any results matching sage 100c"". Suggested products: Sage 100cloud ERP Software. That was fast, yet if a prospect or user does this and does not look at the suggestion, they may just leave the site. At least Sage could have a message stating that the product name had been changed. That would take some serious thinking and planning, however.

This from the company that thought changing the name of Peachtree to Sage 50 was a good idea (so that when people go to buy it at Best Buy and Peachtree isn't there, the helpful associates can shrug their shoulders and say ""Buy Quick Books instead"").

One of my favorite quotes from Peter Drucker is: ""Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two--and only two--basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs."" I'm sure he was thinking ""good marketing"", and innovation is not renaming a product without making any changes to it.

A little long, this is an excellent case study and method for branding and rebranding. When reviewing the quiz with Sage in mind, they scored nearly 100%, which it not a positive. I'm sure if this was published by Oxford or the London School of Economics, it would receive a review by Sage. https://hbr.org/2003/12/kill-a-brand-keep-a-customer

Sage Summit 2015 - ""Sage will not force you to migrate. You will decide when to migrate, and we will be there to help you. It's all about you controlling the pace of migration that works for your business."" - Stephen Kelly This ensures that brands will not be killed at Sage. They almost killed BusinessWorks - we were onboard and then they revived it and our clients resented us for telling them it was a dead product.
