Sage 100c Advanced 2016 - Just installed PU5, and when running the workstation on the server I get the following windows error as it nears the end of the workstation update: '""Execution of the windows host failed"" (access denied)' I have tried reinstalling the update, and reinstalling the workstation. It appears to be related to not having permissions to run batch files (from a simple google search), but not 100% sure on that. Checked Registry settings and they seem to be normal, and we have full permissions to the Sage Workstation and Server files. Logged in as a Full Network and Domain Admin. Anyone had experience with this?

Are you sure that user account control is set to never notify? Check this registry key and make sure it's set to zero. If you see a value of 1, you'll need to modify the key and change it to 0, but be careful as a reboot would then be required to save the setting. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System EnableLUA set to 0 to disable

I had something similar in v 2015, it was the default program set for the file extension on the workstation. VB was set to something odd, can't remember what exactly.

@JohnKerr That was it! Thanks :)

Very good. Glad to help. I never install anything without first ensuring that key is set to zero. Even if you use the GUI windows interface on Win10 or Server 2016 to move the slider to ""never notify"", the registry key still stays at 1 and affects your install.

@JohnKerr Good to know. I wonder if that setting can be changed in Windows Group Policy instead of modifying the registry.

I suppose it could @DougHiggs, but I would think IT would rather control this on an ""as needed"" basis. I reset the key back to 1, once I've tested functionality, particularly on Sage User workstations, as you wouldn't want them to be able to just install any kind of software on their machines.
