  • 1.  Sage 100 with Scanforce moving to new server

    I need to migrate a Sage 100 2022 with Scanforce to a new server.  does anyone have instructions for the Scanforce potion of the move?

    Install the ScanForce programs, then install them again immediately after the data migration and before the data conversion.  Also, schedule ScanForce tech support to remote in to the customer site as early as possible on the go-live morning to do whatever it is they do to get the handhelds working on the new version.   You need to schedule ScanForce a minimum of two weeks in advance of the go-live day.

    I typically don't have the customer test on the new server. Mostly because if they're using scanners it's a disruption to re-program those scanners, test, and then program them to operate on the current version. 

    I also don't test on StarShip since it's similarly difficult to do true testing.

    I tell customers to mitigate issues during go live that I recommend that they engage with ScanForce ( who I believe includes server moves with their paid support ) or purchase an upgrade engagement from V-Technologies/Startship.

    I've always called ScanForce and if the customer is on maintenance with them then usually ScanForce sends me the files this customer needs, I reinstall and contact SF to handle the final steps. This usually means they spend up to half a day reconfiguring scanners on go live day, etc.

    Tell ScanForce there is a server move, and they can connect before the Live date (to set up their services... early), speeding up the go Live activities.
