Sage 100 v5.2 product update 1. End user needs to report in compliance with ACA. What do they need to do? They have payroll and are ready to print W2s. I haven't installed any IRDs or tax table updates.

Backup. install the IRD, print and submit the W2's and then apply the TTU. I normally make a backup of the company and use that backup company for the W2 printing, this way if they need to move forward and process data in the live company they can do so. The W2 process can require changes to be made either in Aatrix or employee maintenance.

Thanks John. I usually use a similar process. What has to be done for ACA compliance? Isn't there an amount that has to print on the W2? Is this a field in Sage 100? isn;t there an ACA tax form that needs to be printed? Does Aatrix handle all of that?

You only need to print the cost of insurance on the W2 if they have more than 250 employees. ACA forms will be handled through Aatrix.

They don't have more than 250 employees. They have 60 or 70. Do they still need to print ACA forms from Astrix?

They need to do ACA forms if they have 50 or more full time or full time equivalent employees. Here are the release notes for the IRD. interim Release Download (IRD) Read Me Release date: December 14, 2016 In order to print or electronically file W2, ACA or 1099 forms, you will need to use the following menu tasks: o Payroll tax forms (i.e. W2, 1095/94, 941, 940): Payroll > Period End > Federal eFiling and Reporting o 1099 (MISC, DIV & INT) forms: Accounts Payable > Reports > Form 1099 eFiling and Reporting ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: The 2016 IRD contains the following enhancements for Accounts Payable: IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION: 1099 Form changes were required for the tax year 2016 and have been incorporated in this update. I apologize for being ACA challenged. I only have one client that requires ACA, and this is the first year. I am trying to learn what is going on. Calling Sage is fruitless. 1. What fields, if any, are required for each each employee in Employee Maintenance? 2. Is ""Offer of Coverage"" required to be populated for each employee? I don't see any available selections in ""Offer of Coverage"" on the drop down. How does this list get populated? 3. What is Applicable Section 4980H Safe Harbor?

I think I got it basically figured out. BTW in case anyone else has the same issue.... the 2016 IRD adds records to the Offer Of Coverage list. This table, as well as Safe Harbor Codes table is located in MAS_System.

Question: I understand the reason for processing W2s from a Payroll backup company code and it is done using Aatrix. But what about the processing of the ACA forms? I thought that the ACA forms should be processed using the ""live"" company so that employee information (address, ACA codes, etc.) are carried over from year to year. Is that right?
