Sage 100 v2024 Upgrade Issue on Windows 11 Pro Workstation

  • 1.  Sage 100 v2024 Upgrade Issue on Windows 11 Pro Workstation

    Posted 05-01-2025 13:04

Just upgrading and going live on Sage 100 Standard v2024 PU1.  Workstation setups complete except for owners workstation.  Workstation setup installed.  When Open Sales Order Entry the window opens and closes quickly.  Instadocs is installed.  Also not able to open PO Entry, or Job Cost Maintenance. Instadocs also installed there.  Instadocs also installed for Inventory but I can open Item Maintenance without issue.

Other screens like Company Maintenance, GL Account Maintenance, Common Information all open just fine.

Anyone had this.  Am on the owner's workstation and need to get this going.  If anyone has ideas please let me know.
    THANK YOU.

I am in the middle of an upgrade to Sage 100 2024 Standard.  We installed it at 32-bit due to most workstations still behind.  One workstation is new and Windows 11 Pro.  Is this an all or nothing 32-bit vs 64-bit?  Do all workstations and the server need to be a 64-bit at v2024.1?

It all or nothing since the server side is what drives the workstations.

Windows 11 Pro is also 'not supported' per Sage, when on 32-bit.  Can you switch to 64-bit?

    ️ Manual DLL Registration Instructions

    1. Copy Required Files:

      • From the server's Sage 100 installation path:

        \\<ServerName>\MAS90\Home

      • Copy the following files:

        • DSDDocuments.dll

        • REGDM.BAT

      • Paste them into the same path on the workstation:

        • C:\Sage100workstation\MAS90\Home (or your specific MAS90 install directory)

    2. Run Command Prompt as Administrator:

      • Click Start, type cmd, right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

    3. Navigate to the Home Directory:

      • In the Command Prompt window, type:

cd C:\Sage100workstation\MAS90\Home  (or your specific MAS90 install directory)

    4. Register the DLL:

      • Run the batch file to register the DLL:

        REGDM.BAT
    5. Verify Setup:

      • Launch Sage 100 and open an InstaDocs-enabled screen (e.g., Vendor Maintenance).

      • The document management features (like the paperclip icon) should now appear without error.

If your using  64-bit you need to add "64"  to the above commands

I agree with Jim about the DLLs not registering.  Be sure that UAC is turned off before install workstation setup.  UAC being on can stop some DLLs from registering.

    Jim,

I did this and same result.

    I originally had those 2 files in  c:\Program Files\Sage\Home.

    Moved them to c:\SAGE\MAS90\Homeand re-registered regdm.bat.

    DLL registered successfully.

SO Entry window still opening and closing/disappearing.

Doug, is it the combo of Windows 11 Pro and One Drive together that's problematic or just the use of One Drive with Instadocs?

I believe the issue is the syncing of the documents folder to OneDrive.  The documents folder contains the Sage 100 folder that includes the JSON file.  For example on my laptop the folder is C:\Users\DLH\Documents\Sage 100.  I have had this conversation with IT several times.

If your workstations aren't all 32-bit, you can have users access Sage via an RD connection as you can have Sage run as a published app, right @Bruce Kern?

I don't know of a kb article specifically. However, it should make sense to their lead IT: 64-bit apps have different code interacting with its client apps than 32-bit. So mix/match would seem pretty impossible.

If I were you, I'd use this as an opportunity to get them into the cloud, where this will not matter. Or at least get them to invest in a good RDP server experience. With a solution that properly handles printing and local drive mapping, this approach is simply more reliable. Local workstation issues pretty much disappear. Employees can easily WFH with cloud, and it's not too hard to enable WFH with just a company's RDP server.

    Good luck!

Wanted to provide update on issue where SO Entry, PO Entry and JC Maintenance screens would not open but Inventory Maintenance would on v2024 PU1 workstation setup.  Avalara and Instadocs in this environment.  The issue was NOT related to Instadocs.  Instead, there was an issue with the Avatax dll not registering properly.  Kudos to Kaitlyn Tom @ DSD for assistance and resolution on this.
