Sage 100 v2013 user wants to change an account - Treasury Stock - from being categorized as a liability to an equity type account. Sage appears to stop this from happening. Is there a work around short of creating an new account and booking an AJE?

Try going through the DFDM backdoor and changing account group, account type and possibly account category.

I second @JeffSchwenk - never had any issues doing this. Which makes you wonder why Sage won't just let you do it without the hype.

I'm guessing it's not a big deal to go from Liability to/from equity however to move from Liability/Equity to Asset would upset the Assets = Liability + Equity equation.

Oh, I had one client go from COGS to a prepaid asset in v3.7x. Caused six weeks of head scratching trying to figure out why the conversion to v4.05 was not balancing. Total PITA to resolve. This is why new conversions need to be correctly the first time through. Would be interested to know why it was classified as a liability in the first place.
