Sage 100

I have always been told about some limitation of Sage 100 in that it somehow has a User Limit of 250. Here are my questions:

• Is that a real limit?
• Is it somehow limited to 250 based on some underlying design or this an issue because of the 32 bit version of a Providex platform issue?
• If it is a limit, is there something in the works that will relieve this limit in the future?

What is your experience?  Has anyone hit that limit?  Or experienced issues with a Limit?

I think the largest # of users I've seen was about 90 on Adv.  And a ways back Sage had to issue an override license file or something for the client because they weren't actually able to use all the licenses.  So they had to artificially bump it up to a higher license count in order to use all their 'purchased' licenses.  Honestly I can't remember if that's still in play.  ​

I remember McGladrey had a client with over 200 users, but not sure if over 250.

We actually have a customer running Sage advanced 2018 Providex (running as a service) running with 110 users. The issue isn’t really the user limit but how sensitive Sage becomes at that size. It cannot handle anyone doing Excel sizable excel queries, large sage intelligence reports etc during business hours. This is also with Job Ops, DSD addons and avalara installed. It is about 30 companies in total on it.

We are actually taking them to Sage SQL 2020 because of that (in the process of slowing moving them over now). They want to do a lot of data mining out of Sage and Providex cannot take it so SQL is where we are headed.

I does anyone know if the 250 limit is still a real limit? I am worried we could actually run into that at some point at the rate we are adding companies.
