I am starting to work on Sage 100 Upgrade - 2022 Standard 32 bit to 2025 Premium 64 bit.  The 2025 Premium 64 bit will be on a new server VM.  What's the best practice for accomplishing this with no user disruption?

What I have done in the past is: 1. Convert the live 2022 Standard 32 bit to 64 bit.  2. Do a test conversion of the live 2022 data to 2025 Premium 64 bit.  3. Install the 2025 Premium client on all of the workstations.  4. Test the printing in the 2022 Standard and 2025 Premium immediately after installing the 2025 Premium workstation client.

What I discovered in a previous upgrade from 2022 to 2025 was that the 64 bit Crystal print driver that gets installed during the 2025 workstation install isn't compatible with version 2022.  The 64 bit Crystal driver needs to be deleted and the the version 2022 64 bit driver gets reinstalled from the 2022 wksetup prerequisites.

Am I missing anything or is there something that can be done better?

Depending on the complexity of the system, I have held off on converting all the older Sage 100 versions (unless they are on an RDP based system) and just used one standalone workstation for testing.  Most clients do minimal testing so what I found is I spent a whole lot of time working on the past version and the oddities of Crystal with very little ROI.

@Wayne Schulz  Thanks.  I was considering that approach.  My only thought is they have 25 users so that's a lot of work in addition to the migration / conversion on go live weekend.  However, maybe I an persuade IT to do all or help with the workstations.  Scary letting IT think they can do anything correctly with Sage 100 though.  Do you have or know of a way to automate the workstation install using a script, batch file, or another method?

It'll be worth your while to take two hour to create a custom "how to" install workstation setup and then let IT manage the workstations. With 25 stations my biggest issues are (a) crystal and (b) paperless.  Then there is the hodge podge setup that might also need to happen for (a) efiling, (b) full crystal , (c) MICR fonts, (d) Bar Code Fonts, and (e) SI

I agree completely on trying to isolate testing to a test workstation, and avoid touching the source system / Live workstations entirely.

Thanks guys.  IT seems to want to be involved in installing the workstation client.  I am going to give them a process document / roadmap.  They cal do a test run on one computer that nobody uses... Then on go live weekend they can install the other 25... Saves me from having to convert 2022 to 64 bit and also saves me time installing the workstation setup.
