Sage 100

Sage 100 Std v4.5.5 with JO installed. Trying to change valuation method for item that is set to FIFO. I want to change it to serialized. There is NO transaction activity. No on hand, no PO's, no SO's, no nothing. Old school thinking is that I should be able to change the valuation. Has this been eliminated? Am I limited to using the valuation change utility regardless of whether there is zero on hand?? TIA

From my experience, you must have zero on hand, all warehouses, to change to serial/lot valuation. The valuation change utility as I recall doesn't auto create lot or serial numbers, so zero out any qoh and try again.

That is the issue. the part number was set up. Absolutely no transactions at all, but yet the valuation button is grey out.... Is JO controlling it somehow?

Must be - wonder if @LisaDion knows anything in JobOps that would prevent the IM Valuation change utility?

@JeffSchwenk did you look at both the cost and item warehouse files? Is it possible they are out of sync and one has a quantity?

Not using the change utility. My question is do I have to??? Old school was that if on hand was zero, I could change the valuation in IM maintenance. It looks like the utility is the only option now.

Oh sorry I'll re-read more carefully next time - yes, I've only been able to change valuations with the utility in the later versions.
