SAGE 100 STD (v2015 - v2017) best practice advice. User Account Control (UAC). Somewhere along the upgrade path, I started adding the ""Run as Administrator"" option to the Advanced Properties on every SAGE 100 STD icon (workstation client) I set up on Windows 7 and Windows 10 workstations. Then, to stop the nagging pop-up message ""Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer"", I would turn off UAC on each workstation. I just received push-back from a client's IT department that will not allow UAC to be turned off. Is the ""Run as Administrator"" still necessary on the workstation?

Eide Bailly has a group policy in place that turns on UAC each night at midnight, mine seems to work just fine. I also only turn on ""Run as Admin"" at the workstation if the workstation presents problems, and several clients IT seem to be of the same opinion that UAC is mandatory (since v2015). I would say it's likely fine to leave it alone as the default.

I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect that Run As Admin is required (for non-admin users) for when Product Updates are installed and Workstation Setup auto-updates.
