I'm not an expert in these things at all, but AFAIK: caching is loading / keeping files in memory which
might be needed, while paging is when there is not enough physical memory so Windows uses the paging file(s) as virtual memory. Cache problems can certainly affect paging, but they are different concepts.
Again, I only read a couple pages (of over 200!) but there was a comment in the thread that implies more memory can help with the issue, and that older software is more vulnerable to issues.

I didn't read the whole thread, but what I did see referenced read caching (with earlier references to data integrity pertaining to mirroring in VM). With Standard being very read-write intensive, any performance hit with file caching could really cause problems.
