Sage 100 Standard ERP v2013 SP4. Have a client with over 66K item codes. When in inventory inquiry or maintenance, and performing lookup: ""description begins with"" and a character string, the resulting lookup appears instantly. Performing the same process within sales order entry and the exact same lookup can take over 1 minute. The customer recently upgraded from 3.7x where lookups were much faster in SO. Of course, the speed of lookup is MOST important in SO entry. Why is it slower?? Is there any fix?

Are there more columns in the lookup by chance?

I am working with a client with some very large lookups as well. I find if I create a custom and turn OFF the initial Lookup checkbox then it goes instantly to the search criteria and doesn't have to preload the data.

Thanks for the input, but no progress I'm afraid. I have created a custom lookup with only item code and description, and unchecked the ""initial display"" check box. But the core issue remains the same. It is an instant lookup in inventory, but not in sales order.

I am not alone. Found this at Sage City: The same exact search on the same machine that takes 12-15 seconds or even 24 seconds ONLY takes 1-2 seconds in INVENTORY INQUIRY / MAINTENANCE I thought long and hard before posting here, and realize another level/layer (such as sales order) could add a little extra time, but not these type of variations. Can anyone else confirm this type of variation between the same lookup in IM vs SO ?
