Sage 100 Standard 2014 PU 5 The customer is trying to import a text field - 5E3 into MB_BinLocation which I think is a file in DSD Multi-Bin Advanced They are importing to field SegmentSort1 and I can see that they are using a CSV and the value in that CSV is indeed 5E3. They say after they import it that Sage is somehow converting 5E3 into 5000 - as if it were scientific notation. I checked the VI and the field is set as string. I haven't seen this before and wondering if anyone else might have.

Sorry to ask but were you looking at the CSV thru Excel or Notepad? I know Excel has fooled me in the past where I saw large numbers formatted as scientific notation (although 5000 is not a large number).

Yes that was my first thought too. I looked at it in notepad and it's definitely 5E3. Turns out the customer sent me a CSV yet when I look at the VI it shows as importing from an Excel. I suggested to them that this was there problem.
