Sage 100 slows to a crawl as more people get in.

I upgraded a Sage 100 'Std' client to v2018.6 (from v2015.2).  Apparently Sage had been running a little slowly prior to the Upgrade, but now it's painfully slow.  We appear to have isolated the issue to when more people get into Sage 100, e.g. with two users working in Sage it's nice and fast, but as more users start working in it, it slows down unbelievably.

    • So I'm wondering what that means. What's that telling us?
    • Is it expected that the 'Advanced' version should help with this?
    • Might re-creating sy_console.m4t and sy_workstation.m4t help?

    - We've already addressed anti-virus.

    - I thought maybe it had to do with the number of users connecting to the network and not so much the number of users working in Sage, but there's been times in the middle of the workday where Sage ran nice and fast with only two users in Sage even though everyone else is connected to the network.

Do you have a rogue router port or NIC card?  How robust is the server?  Since there is no cost to upgrade to ADV, practically all of my STD upgrades are moved to ADV.

Many years ago I traced a problem like this to a bad network switch.  There were two 8 port switches in the network.  After much experimentation we found that if more than four people turned on their computers linked to one of the 8 port switches the network would slow to a crawl.  Replaced the switch and everything was cool.

Is Sage sharing that server with anything else?  Is it running on a virtual server with only 1 vCPU?  With Standard, I would check the Disk Queue Lengths, Disk Active time and some basic network tests (ping, pathping, traceroute, iperf, etc) back to the client to see if either of those is a problem.  If it's a CPU or disk issue, Advanced won't help, but if it's network, it may.

Fyi, this is still being addressed.  Cont'd on this thread.
