Sage 100 renewals will rise 20% effective 3/1/2018. Note that this does not impact Sage 100c. http://www.s-consult.com/2018/01/23/sage-announces-pricing-adjustments-for-sage-100/

I agree with @WayneSchulz, the squeeze is on to motivate customers to move to subscriptions. Discount pricing on moving was the carrot. The sharp increase in maintenance renewals is the stick.

TL;DR: Sage added the word cloud to Sage 100c making the new name Sage 100cloud. But it is in no way meant to imply that Sage 100 is a cloud app. It's just a marketing move.

Sage is betting the slow frog burn in the pot will make them alot of money. As we know, very little to no R&D is going into the product beyond profit making bolt-ons. Once they can get the majority over to subscription, which is code for 'the ability to turn you off if you don't pay', their mission will be complete. Sage 100 goes into near 0 investment mode from almost 0 investment mode, and they just keep the faucet of cash open.

A bit of the Q & A banter... The c in 100c is for connected cloud capabilities. We are requesting a marketing change to spell ""cloud"" to position the c-line products as an entry point for customers to a full cloud solution Sage 100cloud is just a new name for the subscription product. The positioning will be the same. we are giving customers a connected cloud product not a cloud product. Sage 100c/300c is not going into the cloud we are just changing the name from c-line to connected cloud. Same messaging just a new name The products are not change, just the name. This is a marketing change only C-line messaging change will be a tough sell for 100c. Customers understand ""cloud"" as meaning a true browser-based multi-tenant application. The naming change is a way to reinforce the connect cloud capabilities in the product and aligning to Sage Business Cloud as a stepping stone to a full cloud solution. We already have people that say they don't want to switch to 100C because they don't want their data in the cloud. THIS IS NOT GOING TO HELP. And we have other people who say YAY, we want to be in the cloud - and with 100C, that's NOT what they get. So this is a way to reinforce the connected cloud capabilities of the c-line products and align closer our native cloud solutions under Sage Business Cloud Hello Cherry, we aren't not moving to market Sage 100c as cloud, we are just changing the name from Sage 100c to Sage 100cloud. The same messaging: an on prem solution but now with a focus on our connect cloud capabilities (more value within subscription) Cherry, within Sage 100cloud the connected services are vast, SIA, AP Automation, eCommerce, O365, Budgeting Budgeting & Planning, and Multi-Bin all come with Sage 100cloud, then there are others that you do have to pay for, but there is so much more value in the subscription product Does the name change mean Sage 100 will be part of the Sage Business Cloud strengthening its position within the Sage offerings? That is correct I agree with Beth Bowers. Some of our clients resisted going to subscription because they thought the ""c"" meant cloud. They do not want cloud! The ""c"" does not mean cloud, having the name change to Sage 100cloud/300cloud only means the positioning is now connected cloud capability with our connected services. Still on prem solution just more value with connected ecosystem Don't you think that by calling it 100cloud it will be confusing to the customer? It seems to be confusing a lot of us partners. Mary, as long as we are positioning the value of the subscription product, helping customers understand that the product/messaging still have value, we are only changing the name. Just like going from Mass90 to Sage 100.

This was a huge misstep on Sage's part, showing that the marketing people should not have a say in any of this, because they clearly do not have any understanding of what the ""cloud"" means. For that matter, upper management shouldn't either. Sage is now officially the laughingstock of the software publishing industry, if they weren't already. The only positive story in the product line-up is Sage Intacct, the only name that didn't change, and a true multi-tenant cloud product. If anyone was wondering if the BPAC was notified about any of this, we were not.

I don't think any of this is partner confidential. They usually mark anything that is with an internal stamp. I think some of this takes effect March 1 which means Sage is probably billing it now. I predict Sage will make zero announcement to customers and it will be up to us to be the unpaid complaint department and answer incoming questions. PS - Good luck with ""but you can migrate to Sage 100cloud....and the 60 minute discussion on how it's not really cloud but marketed that way"".

This is classic. You now add 'cloud' and you get a stock bump. You add 'block chain', you get a stock bump. You add 'saas' you get a stock bump. Meanwhile, the lipstick is drying on this turd that was built when Ronald Reagan was president and is 90% the same code and design....

_This and another thread address branding changes, so I'm posting it twice:_ Ran into Rob Larsh, he said the C to Cloud, and other name changes did NOT originate in North America they were handed-down from HQ without consulting the NA leadership. Further, if anyone has any comments_ on this change, and or the effects, (update websites, brochures, etc.) email these comments to your Sage rep. All emails on this topic are being forwarded to Nancy Harris.

IMO, Sage is more grossly negligent in not coming up with a streamlined order process in the over 2 years Sage 100c has been available. Think about it. The administrative issues and headaches with ordering have been constant for two years and not one thing has been done to fix issues. I kind of think NA owns that.

@WayneSchulz Those issues are directly related to the move to Atlanta. The sales advisors and managers in Irvine were excellent. I find the management and staff in Atlanta to not be even close, and I doubt they ever will be. That move was also a UK decision.
