Starting August 1, Sage 100 customers will no longer be able to add credit card information for new customers unless they have a Paya, a Nuvei Company, merchant account or another merchant account. This will prevent the creation of new Vault-only accounts with Paya, a Nuvei Company, as they phase out support of Vault-only usage in Sage 100 to improve security and payment card industry (PCI) compliance. Sage 100 customers attempting to create a new Vault-only account will receive a message directing them to contact their partner for assistance with merchant account options. An email was sent in early May to inform customers about the forthcoming changes.

For existing Vault-only customers, they will be able to maintain their current Vault-only records as-is. However, if existing customers attempt to copy a company, they will only be able to do so if the merchant remains unchanged. If an existing Vault-only customer copies a company and attempts to associate a different merchant, Paya, a Nuvei Company, will prevent the creation of a new record. Existing customers will be able to copy a company for the purpose of changing the company/customer name only.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact Paya, a Nuvei Company, directly at 1-800-261-0240. If customers would like to continue using Paya, a Nuvei Company's, integrated vault services, they can setup a merchant account by calling 1-800-652-2370.

We may find that the rules aren't as restrictive as below - however I will go with the more restrictive summary as  I don't think Sage or Nuvei are going to spend much time on a phone with a customer who complains that the system won't allow for maintaining credit cards ( expirations, number changes).

    New Rule (Effective 8/1/2024):

This only impacts users who are NOT integrated to a credit card merchant account. If you are processing ( charging ) credit cards within Sage 100 then this information does NOT apply to you.

    1. You need an integrated merchant account to:
      • Save new credit card numbers
      • Change or add credit card numbers for existing customers
    2. Copying companies:
      • Allowed if no credit card changes are made
      • Restricted if credit card changes are involved

Key Takeaway: The ability to store and manage credit cards for new customers within Sage 100 without a merchant account is ending as of August 1, 2024. This effectively means you'll need to have a merchant account associated with Sage 100 to continue managing customer credit cards.

The announcement from Sage/Nuvei doesn't appear to cover what happens with upgrades after 8/1/2024. For my customers who would be impacted I will probably suggest that this is the time for them to adopt integrated credit cards (with a merchant account) as I don't think Sage or Nuvei will be of much assistance if there is a glitch during an upgrade where an end user is not integrated to credit cards.

That is the main type of thing I asked Elliott about in May.  If someone spots a KB article, please share!

This is mainly just Sage publicly announcing the Paya policy change, which previously broke Vault Only functionality by masking full CC numbers.  This is just dotting the I and crossing the T, finalizing that removed functionality by not giving the illusion that Vault Only functionality was in any way effective.  (Storing a CC number you can never reference is useless).

I exchanged emails with Elliott about this in May, and he said he'd look into a couple things.
