  • 1.  Sage 100 Premium v2018.2 - can't uninstall just one module

    Posted 12-18-2022 10:28

I'm preparing a customer upgrade from 2018.2 Premium, and I cannot uninstall just one module ( in this case Getx).

Note: I am NOT in the current company that I'm trying to remove Getx from ( otherwise, the remove button to even get to the above screen would be grayed out).

I CAN click the green checkmark, and ALL modules are selected for removal (but that's not what I want - I just want one or two modules removed)

What I cannot do is select JUST Getx (or any of the other modules for singular deletion) - when I try to check the box next to the module, nothing happens.

And I can't do any fun tricks like removing the data folder for Getx because upon (attempted)  migration, I get the "you have x installed in 2018 - so either delete it in 2018 or install it in 2022."

So, yeah, I guess one option is to add Getx to v2022. However, the customer is in the process of removing some of their third-party enhancements, and this seems like it mostly kicks the can down the road vs. allowing them to set up their 2022 system with only the modules/enhancements they pay for and use.

I also have some users in Sage (I'm trying this first in TST ) despite my repeated requests ( and assurances that NOBODY is ever in the system over the weekend - stop me if you've heard this story). So it's possible that having one more user in Sage might explain this issue ( although Sage seems to happily let me green-check and select ALL modules ).

    Thoughts?

    update:

For Getx what I would up doing
    1. Go to the individual modules that Getx said I had data for
    2. Rename GXxxx to old.GXxxx
    3. Then go back to LM - Setup - System Configuration
    4. I was then able to delete Getx ( which in turn no longer shows on the company maintenance screen(s) as an installed module)

I'm not sure if I may run into other issue with this later but the above seemed to work

I rarely uninstall just one module from Sage. This may be a WAD though I think Getx should have been possible to remove individually.

I think the big concern is integrated modules.  You have to disable those "integrate with" options before uninstalling a linked module, so the link is not still active (causing errors later).
When possible (i.e. not Premium) I do the uninstall in a folder copy, so I can restore if something goes wrong.
For enhancements I rely on the master developer for uninstall instructions...
