Hi Chris,
It is basically like doing a full recovery but to the cluster drive
SQL would be installed and instance would be created on that drive
Sage and all of its contents would be copied to the cluster drive
The current SQL databases would be backed up and restored to the new Instance
The Owner of the DB would be changed to the MAS_USER after restores
Once all that part is done logon MAS90 style to make sure it is working as expected
If all is good
Now its time to install new Premium to new location
Point it to the Instance you just created
When it sees MAS_SYSTEM already there it will give you the Merge prompt
When you Merge there is no Parallel Migration as that is done during the Merge install
If you want to go this way you always can BUT be sure you have a backup of their complete MAS90 structure and backups of all Databases. If something goes wrong and you have to roll back you want to be able to put production back as it was.

Thanks for the info, of course we will test run all this but as time goes along and clients get more complex I think it's valuable to share this information. @Carmen Cruz the merge method, which I remember you talking about in the meeting of the minds class, how challenging is that to perform, or let me restate, would you say the merge function has been reliable in the past for the premium version? We have other clients that don't necessarily have two sql instances to move things back and forth so the merge function would make the upgrade much easier.

It can be done but you will need the "How to upgrade to Premium using the Merge Method" which is in the Library that Moira has created from the 2020 Conference. Basically everything has to exist in that cluster since clusters do not understand a path like \\server name\C$ type share. Without that ability it causes the Parallel Migration to fail as Hidden shares are required for it to work.
