  • 1.  Sage 100 Premium - Does SQL Use Simple or Full Recovery

Talk about death by 1,000 papercuts ( credit Mark Chinsky) ... one of customer's 5+ IT DBA is asking:

Does SQL need to be set up in Simple or Full Recovery mode?

I've tried searching in the myriad of separate documents - each of which provides a piece of the puzzle but none the full FAQ - and have been able to find this answer.

Can anyone point me to the answer - extra points if it's in Sage's documentation but that's not a requirement?

    TIA

It depends on how you want backup/restore to work.  Simple method means you can only restore the full database as of the last full backup.  Full allows for full backups (say overnight) and incremental backups (say every hour).  This is really an IT/SQL function, not anything Sage specific.

It doesn't matter.  Recovery model doesn't have a functional effect.  Seriously, any DBA who needs to ask this is not very good.
