Sage 100 Payroll. v4.1. Customer has new requirement to garnish child support of part time employee. The deduction is $x/period, unless that amount is greater than 50% of wages. We don't see how to do this. Is it possible?

We have done this with a crystal report that gets run after the initial data entry & tax calculation. It checks the amount in the auto deduction to see if it needs to be lowered based on the earnings, taxes, etc. for thay pay period.

Garnishments are ALWAYS a PIA. Does anyone know of a payroll package that DOES handle such things?

    Not in MAS.

We have also used UDF's in PR1 to track multiple child support judgements per employee (the current record is 5) and pro-rate the amount available for garnishment between them (child support in Michigan) or give one priority over another (wage garnishments in Michigan). It takes a bit of work to set up but streamlines the process at payroll time considerably.
