I thought you didn't need the / in Maintenance - just when you use it in SO/PO, etc

I'm looking at a migration from 4.3 -- working in the common menu to try to add a comment code.

Pretty sure this is going to be a Sage product defect

Looks like this was the result of a bad record in the first position - blank item key

Wayne, I just tested with my local copy of v 2014 PU 1. The ""/"" is not required or allowed when creating the item code in Miscellaneous Item Maintenance. Rather, enter the item code sans the slash and choose the type of non-inventory item you are creating (Misc, Charge, or Comment). You still have to put the ""/"" in front of the item id in Sales Order entry to use the code. Hope this helps.

Thanks - there's something odd going on with the existing data for this site. They are on v4.3 and I suspect it's a combination of old data plus the inventory manager using Visual Integrator and running through a few bad VI imports. I was able to temporarily get a Comment type code to work now I'm back struggling with trying to enter C as a code - it's graying out the entire miscellaneous item code maintenance. As of now my lead suspect is bad / corrupt existing data in the inventory files.

Don't know if this has anything to do with what you're dealing with, but I'm recalling that when pre-defined comment codes (e.g. C01-C99) got converted to 4.4(?), where each code can be activated for multiple modules, AND you had pre-defined comments with the same code in different modules (like C01 in SO and C01 in PO), you ended up with some of those codes getting assigned a new code (can't remember details off the top of my head). Does that make sense?
