The Scanforce, xkZero, and other similars are not meant for general consumer use. They are aimed at the company's sales and service reps.
I think there are three possible approaches for this:
1) press cimcloud harder to see if they can customize the HTML5 to simplify it.
2) look at other marketplaces, such as Shopify, to see if the needed functionality is there. If they find it, then either use ROI to integrate or cimcloud's API's to connect to Sage.
3) hire an app developer to create an app. This is not cheap and has many risks.
They should hire a consultant who deals with such problems to work out the first phase of this problem. It is harder than it looks.

They have both xkzero and CIMcloud and are looking for something that they describe to me as simpler and more consumer-facing. Not as many options. The owner uses an example of Jersey Mike, Starbucks or McDonalds apps which allow for fast ordering without too many confusing options or menus to navigate.

Doesn't the CIMCloud website work on phones? I thought it was responsive design...
I think the xkZero offering can do an app that customers can download and use.
