Sage 100 Advanced v2014. Yesterday and this morning users were working fine. All of a sudden they are receiving the following error messages. The first is received when launching the workstation from the server, the second is when launching from the client workstation. Sage's suggestion was to restore to a backup. The client's IT group rolled the VM back to last night and still same issue. Any ideas?

Can you run it in MAS90 mode from either?

the second error looks an awful lot like the error Doug had yesterday that was due to the crypto virus. Have you looked at the ""launcher"" directory for any files named ""Dycrypt........."" Try to open the file MNUFILE.TXT in the launcher directory - it should be plain text and not encrypted.

Negative on being able to run in MAS90 mode. I get an error 88 then. I'll check the MNUFILE, thanks.

Maybe try replacing the Autoupdatelaunch.vbs from another install of the same version and update? or an older backup? The error message says that Line 1, character 1 is invalid. Have you opened up that file in notepad and looked at it? Maybe that would offer clarity?

can you ""print PGN"" in the workstation error and post the program name if any ?

that is at least five 90 minds clients with the crypto virus in the last 2 days. I'm not sure how this could help us warn our clients but it seems like it would be worth trying to warn them.

Well, first tip would be if windows search turns up ""crypto"", don't call Sage support!

Customer i was at today had it last week. Told them of the several I've seen here. It is definitely making a comeback. Not my customer, btw, but I was working with another partner who is NOT a 90 Minder. HE brought up the group. Of course I've told him about it....

Like customers, you can lead a horse to water, but will he drink it. Best bargain for buck around...

I first encountered this over a year ago. Had two clients hit within two weeks of each over. Why after 13 months is it still occurring???? Is it morphing? AV not picking it up or just stupid users???

I've had a few over the last year. At least one time it was a user opening an email that didn't look suspicious. Maybe this virus is really good at hiding the true nature of the email.

Call me cynical, but this is as close as anyone has come to creating a tax on stupidity.
