    Update 9-3-2020: This may be related to a Sophos Anti-Virus update. 





    The customer called a few days ago. Their Accounts Payable Invoice Data Entry team is repeatedly receiving this error: 

    Error #0 Record/file busyError#0: Record/file busy

    ALREADY TRIED:
    1. Advised reboot server
    2. Advised turn off anti-virus on server and workstations and/or include exclusions ( Sage KB sent )
    3. Rebuilt KEY files - AP Inv Header/Detail data entry
    4. DFDM AP Header / Line to see if any odd records show - I do get an Error 0 on header but only sporadically

    I'm nearly certain that this is a system level issue but before I throw it to Sage I want to be sure I'm not overlooking something that is hidden in the KB or something I've forgotten to check.

    This is a medical practice to the IT is formal. Most people working from home via RDP to their desktop.
    So far as I've been told - this came on suddenly and without warning after no problems for the past few months

    I'd suspect AV software is scanning the MAS90 folder.

    Wayne just had that at a client and we took the Anti Virus down on workstations and server. They are running Sophos as their Anti virus.  Then the issue went away. The IT guy is calling Sophos to find out if any changes have been made to software.

    There is a Sage KB article with AV exclusions... but it depends on whether Sophos allows that kind of thing.

    You can exclude files and extensions in Sophos. KB Attached.  Seems I send this to an IT person weekly.

    @Diane Ruth  Please post an update as to what the IT person finds out from Sophos. I have several using Sophos.  ​

    Doug I will once I hear back but as of last night he still does not know what is causing the issue. He does have the exclusion on and that is not helping. So he just shut the AV down for now . Not one of my better IT guys I have to deal with.

    Thanks, I'm continuing to push the AV theory. My guess is there was either a change made or an update pushed which is causing this. It's always tough to know if the IT departments have actually disabled AV when they say they have. Sometimes I feel as if they aren't really sure how to fully disable it for testing.

    I remember once where a user brought their home laptop into the office, plugged in, and set up a mapped drive.  Their home machine's AV software was the problem (scanning network files). 
    They have to check 100% of the connected machines, not just the server.

    Translation: someone connected by VPN could map a drive from their home machine, with their home AV software causing problems.

    I advised the IT person to RDP directly to the server while remotely connected to a user and have that user try on the server so we could rule out the RDP portion of the connection and problematic. I'm still waiting to hear back ( if it's like most of these things they'll call at 4:58 in a panic )

    I had this happen with a client earlier this year.  Their IT told me it was from people not logging out properly from RDP so it was holding records hostage at the server.  I'm not sure if this is your issue however it's worth looking into.

    IT verified that their AV is Sophos. They claim to have disabled it on server and workstation but I am unsure they actually ( properly ) did so. My working theory is this is a Sophos issue due to a recent Sophos update.

    We are now getting "Connection timed out" error at the client that had the error "0" but also getting it at another Client today. Any thoughts? Anyone else having this issue?

    He is thinking it was windows defender ! Not sure why Windows Defender updated and is running on the server when Sophos is running but who am I to ask.

    I had a client report this last Friday - exact same version. They are using ESET anti-virus. IT uninstalled it on the workstation and it made no difference. I begged to have it disabled temporarily on the server and the error stopped (yay!) and everything sped up 100%. I sent the exclusions to the IT provider and have fingers crossed that they will actually follow the recommendations.
