I remember once where a user brought their home laptop into the office, plugged in, and set up a mapped drive. Their home machine's AV software was the problem (scanning network files).
They have to check 100% of the connected machines, not just the server.

Thanks, I'm continuing to push the AV theory. My guess is there was either a change made or an update pushed which is causing this. It's always tough to know if the IT departments have actually disabled AV when they say they have. Sometimes I feel as if they aren't really sure how to fully disable it for testing.
