I recently upgraded client from Sage 100 Premium 2014 to Sage 100 Premium 2019. There are a few reports I need to tweak in Crystal Reports, but I am not getting the standard login screen when I try to connect to the database to add fields or browse data. In the past, I would just change the data source from the silent connection string that is specific to the report to the SOTAMAS90 DSN that is installed when you run workstation setup. However, Sage no longer loads the SOTAMAS90 DSN in workstation setup, so I am stuck with this Connection Information dialogue box that isn't accepting any credentials I type in. The information the dialogue box prompts for is:

    Server
    User ID
    Password

For the Server, I have tried the Sage host server name (simple and fqdn) and the Sage SQL database server name (with and without the SQL Server instance name) For the User ID and Password, I have tried a domain user/password, several Sage users/passwords, and the SQL sa user/password.

I thought about re-creating the SOTAMAS90 DSN, but then I would have to roll out that DSN to all workstations for the report to work. I may end up doing that eventually, but I would much rather just leave it alone and log in using the dialogue box.

Has anyone seen any documentation on this that doesn't tell you to revert to the SOTAMAS90 DSN?

I believe you may need to update the Mas_Reports password in the SQL setting utility. That gets assigned dynamically (randomly?) At the time of install. Try updating that then using that account and see if it lets you log in.

I changed the MAS_REPORTS password in SQL and updated it in the Sage 100 Premium 2019 SQL Settings tool. I am still getting the following error when I try to log in to the data connection from Crystal Reports:

    Logon failed.
    Details: S0000:[ProvideX][ODBC Driver][PVKIO]Logon failed [Database Vendor Code: 145 ]

This is so odd to me. You would think that there would be some documentation somewhere on which credentials to use.

This is now a moot point, however. I was able to find the error in the report formula without having to connect to the database and fix it.

I did after the first migration for testing, but not after the second go live migration. I will try it on that one report file and see if that helps.

    Hi Ray,

In Premium, you are not connecting to a Providex database via the Sage ODBC but rather you use the SQL connector.  I constantly forget that..

    Thank you,
